What is Choline?
Choline is a naturally occurring fatty acid which is an essential nutrient included with the B-complex vitamins. Choline is a precursor to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which contributes to the efficiency of brain processes. Some people, such as vegetarians who avoid all animal products, endurance athletes and people who consume large amounts of alcohol, may be at special risk for choline deficiency. Aging can lead to a decline in natural choline output and create a need for dietary supplements.
