Aequorin

What is Aequorin?
Aequorin is a protein extracted from jellyfish that is believed to promote good cognitive function. It plays this role by preventing a buildup of excess calcium in the body, an occurrence that can lead to cell damage. Aequorin acts as a replacement for calcium-reducing proteins that are lost with age, thereby contributing to good cell health. Studies have shown that cell death can be reduced by up to 50% by taking a supplement that contains aequorin. Aequorin has also been studied extensively for its bioluminescent properties. When excreted by the jellyfish, it interacts with seawater to emit a blue light.

What are the health benefits of Aequorin?
Aequorin’s primary role in the marketplace is to improve age-related conditions such as memory loss and mental fogginess. Select studies have shown that aequorin may also be effective in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Multiple Sclerosis, although the research is inconclusive.

Where can I find Aequorin?
Aequorin is available in supplement form online, in health food stores and in select retail drugstores.
