Bee Propolis

Bee propolis, also known simply as propolis, is a resinous substance that is collected and then secreted by bees to seal open spaces in the hive and protect the hive against invading microbes and other organisms. Propolis is used by the alternative medical world for stimulating immune function, reducing viral activities, relieving inflammation, treating ulcers, treating oral diseases, and preventing ocular diseases such as cataracts. Much of propolis’ healing properties are attributed to its containing antioxidants such as bioflavonoids and organic chemicals such as terpenoids. Examples of conditions for which propolis is used includes treating the viral properties of warts and low immune function.
