DMAE (dimethyl-amino-ethanol)

What is DMAE?
DMAE is a naturally occurring chemical, produced by the brain, that functions as an anti-oxidant. As such, it can strengthen the body’s ability to fight environmental stressors such as airborne chemicals. As a dietary supplement, it can enhance brain function, strengthen the immune system, help the body to deal with dietary stressors such as hydrogenated fats, and even reduce the severity of hangovers. Studies have shown that DMAE can be more effective than some other antioxidants because it moves from the blood to the brain more easily.

What are the health benefits of DMAE?
The most popular use of DMAE is skincare. It helps to slow the development of some aspects of the aging process, such as liver spots and facial sagging. It has also been found to be useful in the treatment of mood disorders such as depression and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyper-Activity Disorder), and in therapy for traumatic brain injuries.

What are the guidelines for taking DMAE?
Concentrated DMAE can be easily obtained in several forms, including skin creams, moisturizers, and lotions, tablets and capsules, and in liquid form. It occurs naturally in fish such as sardines and anchovies.
