What is Luteolin?
Luteolin is one of a group of substances called bioflavonoids (specifically, a flavanone), known for their powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Commonly found in celery, green pepper, and artichokes, luteolin is thought to inhibit the growth of tumors. As such, it is considered an aid in the treatment and prevention of cancer.

What are the health benefits of Luteolin?
It has been suggested that luteolin helps boost the immune system, promotes healthy blood glucose levels, and protects the eyes from UV radiation. Studies have shown that luteolin is an active “scavenger” of free radicals, which are molecules and atoms that attack human tissue and can cause inflammation, autoimmune disease, and cancer. Luteolin neutralizes free radicals and helps limit their effects. Luteolin is also believed to help protect the body against the damage of radiation and chemotherapy.

What foods are good sources of Luteolin?
Other foods rich in luteolin include thyme, chamomile tea, carrots, olive oil, peppermint, rosemary, oregano, basil, parsley, dandelion, and lemons.
