A healthy prostate?

Q: Dear Dr. Mao,
How do you keep a healthy prostate?

A: As men age, we must conserve our Jing, or source energy, so that it may last us longer and keep us healthy. In general, for a good prostate health, restrain from excessive sexual activities and lower your levels of stress.

Avoid dairy products, fatty foods, and various stimulants including coffee, alcohol, and smoking. Meat consumption should only be during the day and not late in the evening. Increase intake of various seeds like pumpkin and sunflower, seaweeds, figs, cherries, and mangoes.

For an enlarged prostate try these remedies:
1. Make tea from rhubarb root, peach kernels, winter melon seeds, pearl barley, adzuki beans, and corn silk. Drink three times daily.
2. Boil dark figs into tea and drink in the evening. You can also eat the fruit.
