Q: Dear Dr. Mao,
What are your recommendations for preventing ED (Erectile dysfunction)?
A: ED and related conditions are often the result of nerves, excessive stress, worrying, tension, physical overwork, fatigue, frequent masturbation, or excessive indulgence in sexual activity. As we age, our “root” energy is declining, so we must preserve and nurture it.
Here are some dietary and lifestyle advice that might help; these recommendations can also prevent ED:
1. Avoid obscene visual stimulation, dairy products, sweets, excessive masturbation, overwork, and excessive sex. It is recommended that sexual activity be limited to full moon, so as not to deplete the root energy.
2. Eat scallions, scallion seeds, lamb, rooster, bitter melon seeds, walnuts, yams, and lycii berries.
Try this: Make a porridge or cake from black sweet rice, black sesame seeds, black fungus, lotus seeds, walnuts, and black beans. Eat this with half a glass of red wine.
You may also find these specially formulated Traditions of Tao products helpful for ED: “Dragon Male”, “Yang Exhaustion”, “High Performance”, “Enduring Youth”, and “Five Elements of Health”. Of course, discuss with your physician before beginning any new health regime.
