Q: Dear Dr. Mao,
What impact can our families and loved ones have on our longevity?
A: Our families, loved ones, pets, neighbors, coworkers, and even the local store clerk where we do our shopping all have an impact on our lives. Some more, some less, but as the Tao says, we are all interconnected and all of our energies ebb and flow on many levels to create the positive and negative environment for our health and wellness. For example, we may experience profound grief at the loss of a loved one, or we may become angry with a sibling or children. All of this creates undue stress on our bodies.
Adversely, during times of great distress, our loved ones may give us much needed hope and energy to overcome a terrible sickness. How we interact with the people surrounding us, be they family members, friends, or strangers, is critical in the ebb and flow of the energies that bind us together and have a direct impact on our life.
