Microwave removes nutrients?

Q: Dear Dr. Mao,
Does a microwave remove the nutrients from food?

A: Microwaves use super-fast particles to radiate the contents of water inside the food and bring it to a boil. On one hand, the microwave is a miracle of the western scientific culture, but I am personally disturbed by its wide usage. Not only has exposure to microwave radiation been linked to causing infertility in men, but it also denatures many of the essential proteins in foods, rendering them virtually indigestible. If you must, use the low setting just to heat the foods. Better yet, use a small toaster oven to warm your foods. It might take more time, but it is much safer.
