Nutrients to take for a hamstring injury?

Q: Dear Dr. Mao,
I have a running injury, a sprained hamstring tendon. Would you recommend that I take any specific nutrients for this injury?

A: I recommend including vitamin E-rich foods in your diet, such as sunflower seeds, almonds, olives, papaya, Swiss chard, mustard and collard greens, spinach, avocado, blueberries, and olive oil. In addition, fish oils and green vegetables, such as broccoli, kale and arugula, will be helpful to your body’s healing process. Be sure to allow your body enough rest to repair the injury. The winter season is a good one to take the time out to allow for rest and recuperation.

You may find the specially formulated Traditions of Tao product “Muscle Strength” helpful. Of course, discuss with your physician before beginning any new health regime.
